I've decided to take a break this week. I've started school back up, and I need to get into the swing of things. I've recently transferred to a new university with a new major, and it's already keeping me busy! I was a Biology major, but I don't like math very much. Nowadays, a Bio major must take up to Cal 3 and a couple of physics classes. Now I am going to be a middle school science teacher. I'm quite excited! It's definitely a new way to think. It's perhaps... less critical thinking and more interpretive. Anyways I love it so far!! It's 16 hours so I'm busy busy. I'm also starting rehearsals for a new play and have to get into shape to perform with my old dance studio in their production of The Nutcracker. Whew!!!! I think I'll make it through... maybe!
Here's some pictures of a string block pillow I made for my sister. My mom originally made her a quilt out of all of these fabrics. It's her "going away to college" quilt. Notice the butterflies! My sisters requested them. I took the left overs and made a matching throw pillow.

...to the final product! This was the first pillow cover I've ever made :) |
And I'll leave you with one of the back. I measured and measured and even measured some more before cutting, but somehow the two panels still didn't overlap. Oh well. I'll get it next time! (I also gave the Sugar Pop quilt to its rightful owner... it was hard. I almost cried while I was driving to meet them. It was made for one of my co-actor's one year old daughter, Lilly. Her parents seemed to like it, so I'm sure she will!)
It's a beautiful pillow! The back is very pretty, too. If it annoys you that it didn't overlap, you could always attach a couple of ribbons to each side of the opening!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a good idea! I will definitely try that next time. Thank you for your kind words and advice :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful gift for your sister! I know she will love it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this semester!
(Maybe your pillow just needs to go on a little diet! lol)
